Spring Cleaning Arts Auction

The Indiana Arts Council will be holding its first-ever Spring Cleaning Arts Auction and is seeking original art of kinds, musical instruments, art tools, and even coffee table art books to help raise funds for the local non-profit which has been serving the community for over 40 years.

“The auction will serve as another way to keep art flowing in our community and, at the same time, help raise funds for the IAC programming.”

“We are asking artists and community members for donations of art pieces that perhaps no longer complement your décor, or musical instruments that you haven’t played in years, as well as other art-related items you may have around your home and are no longer using,” said Cate Planisky, IAC Treasurer and auction coordinator. “The auction will serve as another way to keep art flowing in our community and, at the same time, help raise funds for the IAC programming.”

Planisky suggested that the donated artwork be hand-created pieces by artisans and not pieces that are mass produced and commonly sold in stores. Instruments, music recordings, larger wooden frames, and art equipment should also be in good condition and readily utilized by the new owners. Donations will be accepted every remaining Saturday in April and May from noon until 3:00 p.m. in Room 412 of the Indiana Theater Building at 637 Philadelphia Street in Indiana.  Items can also be given to any IAC board member directly.

The online auction is scheduled to open for bidding early June and run until the end of the month. A preview will also be arranged so that bidders can view the item they are considering. The IAC website will provide updated information and the URL for the auction.
